Scott G. Kyle
Chief Executive Officer
Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Kyle is responsible for strategic investment decisions and portfolio management.

Investing in public and private companies for over 20 years, Mr. Kyle offers a solid combination of Wall Street analyst, public market, private equity, and hedge fund experience, invaluable when it comes to sophisticated and effective money management. During that time he has executed billions of dollars in securities trades/investments. Mr. Kyle has been using options strategies to hedge equity positions and to generate income since the early 1990s, while developing proprietary trading/investing models and techniques.

Mr. Kyle co-founded and was a principal source of early stage investment funding for the publicly traded The Active Network, Inc., (ACTV), named for three consecutive years one of the fastest growing companies in North America by Inc Magazine and for four years one of the fastest growing companies in North America by Deloitte & Touche (Fast 500). Mr. Kyle served as CFO and as Board of Director for Active from its founding in 1998 until 2002. Today, Active has over 3,000 employees worldwide.

In 1997, Mr. Kyle purchased an interest in and became CEO/Publisher of Triathlon Group North America, LLC, the parent company to the world's largest triathlon publication, Triathlete Magazine. Post-acquisition, Mr. Kyle led a team for the subsequent year which returned the magazine to profitability. Mr. Kyle served on the company's Board of Directors until November 2003 when he sold his interest.

From 1993 - 1997, Mr. Kyle was the Publisher at Dearborn Trade and the Director of Dearborn's International Division. As Publisher, Mr. Kyle was responsible for managing a group of over 60 people and a budget in excess of five million dollars in sales. Mr. Kyle served on the parent company's Board of Directors from 1996 until the company was sold to the publicly traded Washington Post Company for over thirty-six million dollars in 1998.

From 1989 - 1991, Mr. Kyle was a Financial Analyst at Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan/Chase) where he conducted analysis and due diligence on Fortune 1000 Companies.

Mr. Kyle is the author of The Power Curve: Smart Investing Using Dividends, Options, and the Magic of Compounding. Additionally, he is the creator of the Power 100^®, an annual stock index. 

Mr. Kyle holds Bachelor's degrees in Economics and International Relations from Tufts University (Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa), a General Course Degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard University. Mr. Kyle is a two time world and nine time national champion in sailing, an Ironman triathlon finisher and a 3rd degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo. As part of Coastwise's philanthropic efforts, Mr. Kyle founded the Coastwise Prize^® for Investing Excellence, an annual scholarship prize for high school students. Additionally, he created the Coastwise Mile^®, an annual running event and festival benefiting the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA as well as the Scripps Park Project. Mr. Kyle lives with his family in La Jolla, California and has served as a Board of Director on over fifteen companies and non-profit organizations.

Joclyn McManimen
Director of Business Development
  
Mrs. McManimen is responsible for Coastwise's business initiatives and marketing. Mrs. McManimen brings years of business experience to the Coastwise Capital Group team in the areas of marketing, advertising, public relations, operations management, and client relations.

From 2000-2004, Mrs. McManimen supported the Vice President, 4 Regional Managers, and 34 Account Executives of National Cinema Network, an industry-leading provider of advertising and promotions for over 800 theatres across North America. She coordinated all marketing premiums, researched and adjusted current demographics, created various media rate card binders, wrote monthly marketing newsletters, developed a semi-annual direct mail piece, and managed the production of media kits.

As an Editorial Assistant for the Fashion, Entertainment and Lifestyle Magazine, 944, Mrs. McManimen has published articles read by thousands of San Diegan's. In addition, she worked with KGTV Channel 10News writing press releases and producing a weekly segment, The 10News Leadership Award, under their Creative Services/Community Affairs department.

Mrs. McManimen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of California San Diego. She is a registered Investment Advisor Representative licensed to provide investment advice to the individuals with whom she interacts. To fulfill her personal passion for education, kids, and the arts, Mrs. McManimen sits on the Gala Committee for The New Children's Museum. She enjoys balancing her work life with extensive gym and outdoor sports activities, relaxing on the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

Brian Lavoie
Financial Analyst/Trader

Mr. Lavoie is responsible for industry and company analysis, portfolio trading, and compliance policy and procedure implementation.

Mr. Lavoie brings more than a decade's experience in the financial services industry to the Coastwise team. Mr. Lavoie has worked in the United States and in Ireland at such world renowned institutions as Investors Bank & Trust, JP Morgan, and Deutsche Bank Alternative Fund Services/HedgeWorks LLC. His prior roles include experience in fund administration, fund custody, training, valuation, project management, and systems development, as well as extensive work in team management and client services.

Mr. Lavoie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Providence College in Providence, RI. An accomplished golfer, Mr. Lavoie plays extensively. He enjoys cooking, photography, and spending time with family and friends.

Lauren Doffing
Director of Operations

Ms. Doffing is responsible for client relations and business operations.

Ms. Doffing serves Coastwise Capital Group as the Director of Operations. She brings years of administrative experience in the service, staffing, and sporting industries where her strengths have been found in business operations and client relations.

Most recently, previous to her time at Coastwise, Ms. Doffing was the Executive Assistant in the Global Human Resources Department at TaylorMade-adidas Golf in Carlsbad, CA. There she was in an extremely visible role as the gateway to the HR department for 500 internal employees and countless external clients, as well as the direct assistant to the Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources. Previously, Ms. Doffing spent two years in the staffing industry where on a daily basis she was responsible for meeting the specific recruiting needs of client companies.

Ms. Doffing holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Long Beach. During her four years at Long Beach State, Ms. Doffing was an active member of the NCAA division 1-Women’s Soccer team and was the team captain and MVP. Additionally, she was selected to represent Women’s Soccer on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, which planned and organized various athletic events on campus as well as community service projects. Ms. Doffing is currently enrolled in the Human Resources Management program at UCSD Extension in pursuit of certification within the next two years.

In her free time, Ms. Doffing enjoys being as active as she can by working out at the gym and participating on coed sports teams such as soccer, volleyball and softball. Born and raised in San Diego, she enjoys the beaches, warm weather and spending time with her family and friends.

Joe Bendix
Research Analyst

Joe is currently a third year student at the University of San Diego pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business Economics with a minor in Finance. At USD, Joe is a member of both the Economics and Finance councils and has appeared on the Dean's list each semester. Over the past summer, Joe held an internship with Seven Ventures, a start-up internet company based in Minneapolis. Growing up in Minnetonka, Minnesota, he enjoys fitness and the warm weather that San Diego offers.

Ailin Zeng
Research Analyst

Ailin is currently a third year student at the University of California San Diego where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a minor in Business-Finance. She is also the Corporate Relations Committee Chair of Alpha Kappa Psi, the Premier Co-Ed Business Fraternity, and the Vice President of External Affairs for CampusCred at UCSD. She grew up in the Bay Area and hopes to return to her hometown of Cupertino to pursue a career in Business/Finance. Ailin also enjoys running, hiking, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Keith J. Saxe
Investment Advisor Representative

Mr. Saxe is responsible for developing relationships and opportunities with prospective clients, offering them access to Coastwise's world-class investment services.

Born and raised in New York City, Keith Saxe graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Marketing from The Business School at The State University of New York at Albany.

Mr. Saxe has 25 years successful sales management experience. His diversified background includes both private and S&P 500 companies. He has held financial sales management positions as American Express and Shearson Lehman Brothers. This includes working directly with Sandy Weill, former Citicorp CEO on Wall Street. Mr. Saxe served as Director of Sales for 800 Birthstones and as a Sales and IR Consultant to Amylin Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: AMLN) during its growth from 350 to over 1,800 employees worldwide.

Mr. Saxe is currently a personal jeweler for Pico Jewelry, is GIA and FIT trained, and has been a trusted high-end diamond jewelry specialist for over 22 years. He sits on the Advisory Board for The AmericasCard, a financial services company with their own prepaid debit card.
